The Walking Dead Cast Signing at SDCC

This past weekend, the cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead made their annual appearance at San Diego Comic Con.  Although we have had lots of interaction with these celebrities at Walker Stalker Con, the mob mentality at SDCC is unlike anything we have ever seen.

Naturally, the cast and crew were in town for their panel and the release of the Season 6 trailer that everyone has been anticipating.  The line up for the panel was as follows:  Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, Sonequa Martin-Green, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer Dave Alpert, and special effects makeup supervisor and executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Before their 12:00 PM panel, the cast was scheduled to appear at the AMC booth for a 1 hour signing.  Since there are 150,000 people at SDCC, AMC had to utilize a raffle system to determine who could get to meet the cast.  Fans had to stand in line to receive a raffle ticket for a chance to get access to the signing event.  Fans were allowed to enter the line for raffle tickets as many times as they would like in order to increase their odds.  One person I spoke with had first entered the line on Wednesday night and continued to enter the line over and over throughout the day on Thursday.  In total, she got 40 raffle tickets and only ONE of those tickets was a winner.  Fans with a winning ticket were allowed to line up at the AMC booth for the signing event.  Each fan was given an exclusive TWD poster and they were able to go down the line of celebrities and get the poster signed by each cast member.  Only about 100 fans were lucky enough to have a winning ticket.  Unfortunately, I was not one of them.

How many times would you wait in line for a cast raffle ticket?

Once the cast arrived, the mob of people was INSANE.  Everyone was pushing and shoving for a chance to get a glimpse of our beloved heroes!  I was able to Periscope the signing event for our loyal Twitter followers and our camera man (Romey) was able to capture some great footage of the cast and the excited mob surrounding them.
