Robert Kirkman does what he does best in this brand new issue of The Walking Dead #108, and gives you a great storyline while going in depth into the characters! This issue is extremely character driven. Not only did he show some true emotions of our old characters but he introduced a brand new character in Ezekiel.
This issue starts of with the typical Negan cursing and yelling at his own group! He is playing ping pong with a member until he finally beats the opposing member! He then tries to get Dwight to play against him but Dwight replies, “I should really get going!” After seeing Negan take Dwight’s wife away to have sex with her, Dwight leaves. We then see Michonne and Carl battling some walkers outside the fence of their town! Michonne quickly yells at Carl to get back inside but Carl refuses and replies,”We can take them.” After laying down a couple walkers, Carl is attacked from behind and taken to the ground. Michonne grabs Carl and runs inside, they have a truly emotional scene and Carl reveals that he thinks he is week because of his missing eye. Michonne quickly assures Carl that he is strong just like his father.
We then take a look at Rick and Jesus. Jesus reveals that they are outside the kingdom, which is the town that Ezekiel runs (the new character mentioned in #107). Two men on horses escort Rick and Jesus to “King Ezekiel.” Ezekiel walks out to notices Jesus, “Hello my good friend,” he states. They all walk into his palace where they talk about attacking Negan and his men. Ezekiel is very interested in the idea and says he has been waiting for the right time to attack Negan and now is the time. He then turns towards the curtain and says, “make yourself present known traveler.” None other than Dwight walks out and Rick gets really angry.
Rick starts screaming at Ezekiel that this man (Dwight) works for Negan and he’s done nasty stuff. Dwight tries to talk Rick into trusting him that Negan has made a sex slave of his wife and that he wants revenge!
In the middle of that confrontation, Andrea and Michonne are shown eating and talking where Michonne reveals she isn’t the same person anymore. She can’t talk and be fun anymore, partly because of what happened between her and Heath the night before!
Robert Kirkman ends the story by Dwight trying to explain to Rick that he is on their side and wants to kill Negan. Rick and Jesus look to Ezekiel who is smiling!
This was a great issue as it had some very great dialogue between Michonne and Carl, as well as Andrea. It was also very interesting to see Ezekiel for the first time. The best part of the issue is Dwight wanting to turn on Negan and kill him. What where you’re thoughts on today’s issue?
